The Owners

Hi, we are the Edwards family, We recently acquired Candle Lake Outfitters from Fred and Paulette.

We first met Fred 8 years ago when we purchased a trapline in the area. Immediately, we felt a connection based on our mutual enjoyment of being outdoors. Not long after, we met Paulette at deer camp and they made us feel like family from day one. Especially keeping the boys provided with plenty of trail mix! When Fred and Paulette decided to consider retirement, we saw an opportunity to continue the legacy they had built.

Logan - Camp Manager

I was born and raised in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. I began hunting with my dad as early as I could, and harvested my first whitetail buck at 12 years old. I was first introduced to the Candle Lake area 8 years ago when my family purchased a trapline. We then spent winters pursuing lynx, marten, and many other furbearers, which has allowed me to build my knowledge of animal behaviors in the area. When I turned 18, I started guiding for Fred and Paulette, which i really enjoyed. When Fred and Paulette made the decision to retire, I knew this was an opportunity I wanted to pursue.

Tom - Sales/Guide

I was born in western Pennsylvania, where I started hunting at a young age with my father. At 20 years old, I joined the USAF and was stationed in Minot, ND. After finishing my enlistment, I stayed in Minot to finish college where I met my wife, Melodie. We then moved to Lloydminster, where I’ve spent the last 20+ years working in the oilfield, and enjoying the amazing outdoor opportunities Saskatchewan has to offer. While raising my boys, I found I enjoyed helping them achieve success in their hunts, more than I enjoyed hunting for myself.

Colin - Guide

I grew up in Lloydminster SK. When I was young, I wanted to try every outdoor activity the province Saskatchewan had to offer. This led me to experience many outdoor adventures with my Dad and brother. These included hunting, trapping, fishing, quadding, snowmobiling, etc.. The love of the outdoors led us to eventually acquire a trapline in Candle Lake. Since then, I’ve spent every winter on the trapline pursuing all types of furbearers. I also spent lots of time ice fishing and observing wildlife in the area.

As a family, we have made the decision to continue Fred and Paulette’s whitetail herd management philosophy. By selling a limited number of our whitetail tags each year, we are able to prioritize herd health. This also allows us to provide small groups of hunters with a personal experience.

Airport Pickup, Home Cooked Meals, Wildlife Management

We look after your experience from start to finish, from pickup at the airport or hotel in the city, driving you to one of our hunting lodges near the animal habitat of your choice, providing home-cooked meals, managing the wildlife to give you prime access to trophy quality animals, setting you up in your blind for the hunt, and making arrangements for getting your trophy home.

We believe in honesty and hard work, and are committed to providing you with the best possible hunting experience we can. We’re here to help and to be as clear and simple in our communication, helping you understand what to expect, what we offer, and what you need to know to have a safe, successful and memorable hunt.
